Commercial.
The receipts at the Custom-house yesterday were—For duties, £243 2s 4d ; light dues, £4 12s; fees, Merchant Shipping Act, 6s; fees, Arms Aot, £7 Hβ ; total, £255 Hβ 4d. The land sales at the Government offices yesterday amounted to 78 acres, viz., 58 acres in the Malvern district, and 20 acres in the Waitangi district. Sum realised, £156. The following is an abstract of the land Bales at the Waste Lands Office during the month. of April:—Chrxatchurch, 3; TJpper do, 41 j Ashley, 120 j Timaru, 783 ; Lincoln, 20; Mandeville, 25; Ellesmere, 130 ; Banks , Peninsula, 343} Oxford, 40; Malvern, 268; Waitaugi, 140; total, 1913 acres. Sum realised^£3B26.
TIMARU.
In the grain , market, wheat is quoted from 4s to 4s 6d per bushel, but very little doing, and a downward tendency is shown by •buyers; oats remain at 2s 6c_ W 2s 9d v and barley is quoted from 3s 6d to 4b. The Melbourne grain market is not so firm as it was ! _ few weeks ago.—" Herald," May 8.
