THE PROVINCIAL GOVEBMENT will receive applications for free passages for single women—domestic servants —between the ages of fifteen and thirty-five; and for assisted passages for families and single men. Immigration Office, Christchuroh, June 18, 1868. o>2o PUBLIC NOTICE; I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, pursuant to Clause VI. of the "Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1866," that an APPLICATION has been LODGED in the Land Office, Christchurch, by Messrs Matheson's Agency, aa holders of Pasturage License No. 202, clause 3, and by James Balfour Wemyes, as holder of Pasturage License No. 212, olass 3, to have the boundaries of the said runs amended in accordance with Clause 111. of the Act above referred to. If any person can show cause why the boundaries of the said runs should not be altered, the same must be made known to the Waste Lands Board, Christchuroh, before Thursday, the 29th day of April next. Land Office, Chrietchurch, February 25th, 1869. 3_ miE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT of X CANTERBURY, New Zealand, is prepared to RECEIVE PROPOSALS for the CONSTRUCTION of a RAILWAY between Christchurch and the South Bank of the River Kowai, a distance of about twenty* six miles, in accordance with the following resolutions of the Provincial Council:— " 1. That capitalists be invited to undertake the construction of a cheap railway from Ohristchurch to the South Bank of the Kowai, and to furnish the neoeseary rolling stock, buildings, &c." "2. That it be a request to the Government to take by Ordinance or otherwise such steps as may be necessary to make £30,000 of the unexpended balance of the loan, and any interest that may accrue thereon, available as a fund for guaranteeing capitalists' interest on the cost of the said railway." "3. Public Works Office, Christchurch, April 15,1869. 4-16 NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS. RAKAIA BRIDGE. THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT of Canterbury invite TENDERS for the ERECTION of a BRIDGE over the Rakaia River in accordance with plans and specification to be seen the office of the Provincial Engineer, on and after TUESDAY next, the 27th inst. The bridge to be built of 96 spans of 40 feet each, with approaches of about 779 feet in length. Persons tendering to state the time within which they will undertake to complete the work, and the term of years for which they would require to receive tolls at the rates prescribed in the Rakaia Bridge Ordinance, 1868. The Government is prepared to receive and consider plans differing from, or modifications of those for the carrying out of which it calls for tenders. Plans and specifications to be forwarded with the tender. The Government engage to return unaccepted plans and specifications, if required to do so. Sealed tenders, endorsed " Rakaia Bridge," to be sent in to this office not later than noon on the Ist July next. The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted. EDWD.
