Public Works office, Christohurch, Maroh 8,1869. 3-11 mHE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT of JL CANTERBURY, New Zealand, is prepared to REOEITE PROPOSALS for the CONSTRUCTION of a RAILWAY between Chrietchuroh and the South Bank of the River Kowai, a distance of about twentysix miles, in accordance with the following resolutions of the Provincial Counoil: — " 1. That capitalists be invited to undertake the construction of a cheap railway from Christchurch to the South Bank of the Kowai, and to furnish the necessary rolling stock, buildings, &c. n "2. That it be a request to the Government to take by Ordinance or otherwise such steps as may be necessary to make £30,000 of the unexpended balance of the loan, and any interest that may accrue thereon, available as a fund for guaranteeing capitalist*' interest on the cost of the said railway." «3. That before any tender be accepted I the sanction of the Provincial Counoil ! be first obtained."
