After being cautioned s he persisted in using bad language, and had to be arrested. Constable JeiFery corroborated last witness's evidence. Mr Cottrell, wlio appeared for the defence, called several wi» nesses to prove that the defendant was r,ot drunk when arrested. The Resident Magistrate remarked that he was sorry to say there was no doubt the defendant was drunk end had misbehaved himself instead of setting aa example to others to maintain order. Defoa" dant was fined 20s. : Allan McGregor was brought up in custody charged with larceny from a dwelling. Oa the application of Inspector Pendor, prisons? was remanded till this morning for the pro« duction of witnesses. .
