I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, pursuant to Clause VI. of "The Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1866," that an APPLICATION has been lodged in the Land Office, Christchurch, by Messrs Mathias and Ensor as holders of Pasturage License No 184, and George Gray Russell as holder of Pasturage Licenses Nos 252 and 320, to have the Licenses aforesaid CANCELLED, and a fresh License ISSUED by the Waste Lands Board to the said Messrs Mathias and Eusor, which shall comprise the lands formerly held under License No 184, together with that portion of Runs Nos 252 and 320, lying between the Burk's Pass Road and the Pass Creek, and the northern boundary of the said Run, No 184; and fresh Licenses to the said George Gray Russell, which shall comprise the lands formerly held under the said Licenses Nos 252 and 320 respectively, save and, except those portions thereof proposed to be added to Run No 184 as aforesaid. If any person can show cause why such fresh Licenses as aforesaid should not be issued, the same must be made known to the Waste Lands Board before Thursday, the 4th day of January, 1869. A MEMORIAL having been presented to the Board of Education from a considerable number of the inhabitants of the South Selwyn District (as hereinafter described), stating that no provision has been made for public school education in the said District, and praying for the ERECTION of such DISTRICT into a separate EDUCAi TIONAL DISTRICT, I hereby give notice, in accordance with the provisions of the Education Ordinance, 1864, that a PUBLIC MEETING of the owners and occupiers of land and householders resident in the said i district, will be held on TUESDAY, the _sth day of December, 1868, at 2 o'clock p.m., at the Church and School, South Selwyn, for the purpose of ascertaining whether such owners, occupiers, and householders are willing that the said district should be formed into an Educational District: also, for ascertaining whether such owners, occupiers, and householders are willing to provide the proportion of the annual expenses of an Educational District to be paid by such district, as provided by the Education Ordinance, 1864. The following is the description of the proposed district: — Commencing at the point where the Ellesmere and Lincoln road crosses the River Selwyn, thence south-westerly along such road to the southern corner of section 6046, thence north-westerly along the southern boundaries of sections 6046, 6137, 5151, 7243, 7942, and in a straight line from the western corner of section 8431, thence northwesterly along the road between sections 8431 and 9013 to its junction with the road between sections 9933 and 10577, thence north-westerly along this latter road to its junction with the road between sections 9580 and 9597 ; thence westerly along this latter road to its junction with ths Selwyn and Rakaia road; thence north-easterly along this latter road to the point where it crosses the river Selwyn; thence following the course of the river to the starting point. Included in the above description is the following portion of the present Leeston District: — Commencing at the junction of the Ellesmere and Lincoln road with Hanmer's road ; thence south-westerly along the former road to the southern corner of section 6046 ; thence north-westerly along the southern boundaries of sections 6046, 6137, 5851, 7243, 7942, and in a straight line from the western corner of the latter section to the eastern corner of section 8431 ; thence north-westerly along the road between sections 8431 and 9013 to its junction with the road between sections 9933 and 10577; thence north-westerly along this latter road to its junction with the road between sections 9182 and 9792; thence easterly along this latter road to its junction with Boundary Creek road: thence southerly along this latter road to its junction with Hanmer's road, and south-easterly, southerly, and south-easterly along this latter road to the starting point.
