The debate on the "Alarm " resolution was continued this evening. It ia hoped it will terminate to-morrow night. The division will be very close, but it is impossible to say which way. Mete Kingi, who promised Mr McLean to vote for his resolution, went by yesterday's early morning coach to Wanganui, it is said on official i or semi-official business. The Government caucus was held to-day. Great uneaßiuess is felt in j that party, the Government havin" intimated at Saturday's caucus that it ] was found impossible to carry out , their proposed adjustment (i.e. compensation to provinces) this year. Mr J. O'Neill has given notice that | the compact of 1856 be considered as « at an end.
