POULTRY ASSOCCIATION.
A meeting of the Council of this Association was held yesterday evening at White's Hotel, present—Messrs H. E. Alport (chairman), R. W. Fereday, W. Wilson, G. A. Reade, W. Percival, Walker, and J. E. Davie (hon sec). The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Treasurer made his financial statement to the effect that the sum of £37 18a 4d was actually in hand, and that no liability existed ; also that by the time all the subscriptions were collected the Society would be in funds to the amount of £47, or thereabouts. It was moved by Mr Fereday that the Treasurer's report, as now read, be received. Carried. A discussion then took place as to the way in which the halance in hand should be expended. , Mr Reade moved, and Mr Fereday seconded the following resolution—:" That the funds of the Society be deposited in the Bank of New Zealand at a fixed deposit for nine months from the 19th insfc." Mr Wilson next moved, and Mr Reade seconded, that the sum of £5 be given to the .Agricultural and Pastoral Association in return for sum voted by theni for the Christohurch Poultry Association, and that tho said sum be devoted to an extended .and improved exhibition of poultry at the Association's next show.
Moved by Mr Wilson, and seconded by Mr Reade, that the council do appoint Messrs Wilson and Fereday a deputation to wait upon the committee of tho Agricultural and Pastoral Association at their meeting on Monday, the 21st inst., asking the permission of the committee to be allowed to offer a prize of £2 23 for the beet show pen exhibited at the forthcoming show, conditions for which they -will ask to be allowed to impose. Mr Davie moved, and Mr Percival seconded, the following resolution :—That the Council | of the Christchurch Poultry Association are desirous of lending every assistance in their j power to the committee of the Agricultural Association, if invited to do so, and that the secretary be requested to forward. a copy of this resolution. Mr Percival moved and Mr Walker seconded v That the Secretary be requested to write to the Secretary of the Birmingham Poultry Association for a copy of their.rules and a plan of pens used by them at their shows with the cost of the same " ! Moved by Mr W. Wilson, and secoded by Mr Davie — " That in consequence of the gold medal offered by the Mayor of Christchurch not having been won by any exhibitor, the medal in question be offered another year upon such conditions as the Society may then determine." There being no more business to transact the meeting then adjourned.
