Tho schooner Challenge, which sustained tome amount of damage to her stern quarter and wheel during the recent earthquake wares, has been repaired, and in a few days will be ready For sea. The captain of the s s Gazelle states that on Uiefrecently opened bar at the mouth of the Waimakariri river there is a good depth of water— oyer twelve feet. Another bar is likely to; open out still further to the northward.
