I was lately up country, three weeks ago, and stopped at Overton's Accommodation-house. I know nothing of Mr Gould's fire. Ido not recollect •lying at the house that there would soon be another fire in Christchurch, but I will not awear that I did not say so. I have been for some time in the Fire Brigade, and have always found that one fire was always quickly followed by another. Mr Inspector Pender stated that that was all the evidence he had to produce at present, and he would ask for a further adjournment. It could be proved that Burnside was in town on the night of the fire, and was out until two o clock ia the morning. . The ; then adjourned until Monday, the 83rd December.
