THE ENGLISH CORS MARKET.
The "Economist." of September 21, reports the state of the corn market for the week as foil ws: — The arrivals of English wheat, -coastwise and by lurid carriage, have been very moderate-, and in but middling condition. Both red and white qualities have moved off slowly ; nevertheless, the late advance in the quotations has been well supported. In foreign wheat the transactions have been unimportant. Prices, however, have ruled firm. Grinding barley has produced rather more money. Other kinds, though in short supply, have ruled abcut stationary. The sale for malt, has continued inactive on former terms. Oats have adranced Is per quarter, with a good demand for home consumption. Both beans and peas have commanded quite as much money as of late; whiist flour has realized extreme rates.
Harvest-work has made but slow progress this week. The accounts respecting the yield of the new wheats are less favourable
The continental markets are stdl very firm for all kinds of produce The exports of wheat and flour from the United States have further increased.
The few samples of wheat on sale in the Scotch markets have been readily disposed of at very full pri«es. The value of all descriptions of spring corn has been fully supported.
In Ireland, wheat has commanded extreme quotations, although the supply of new pro duce has increased. Barley and all other articles have been very firm.
