* The brigantine Despatch, Captain Bearnard, arrived in harbour on Saturday morning at six o'clock, after a passage of twelve days. She brings a cargo of cattle in first-rate order. We are informed that the ketch Annie is a aground on the bar at Kaiapoi. This vessel •was laden with a cargo of wheat, belonging to Messrs Birch and Co., and it is feared she will be rendered useless by this accident. We have no particulars as to how she got aground. The steamer Gazelle, whilst towing out two vessels, the Courier and the Falcon, on Saturday last got aground on the Sumner bar, and but little hopes are entertained of getting her ofS It appears that when in the rip the ebb tide caught the vessels being towed out very Btrongly, and drifted them under the steamer's quarter, when the tow line became entangled in the screw, and the steamer was rendered unmanageable, and drifted on to the spit. The Gazelle is loaded with grain in bags, and the water having got to it it has become so swollen •stbat it is impossible to take it out of f the hold. Little chance exists of saving either machinery or cargo. One of the vessels also grounded, but afterwards got off.
