POKT (\HAI.MEBB. Arrived—September I—Lady Darling, at Heads. Sailed—September I—Early,l—Early, Pioneer for Oftmaru ; Lapwing for Grey ; 10 20 a.m, Airedale passed the Heads, bound north. Blxtpf. Arrived — August 31—9 am, Airedale from Dunedin ; 8.20 am, Egmont from Hokitika. S n ;i-i —August 31—2 p.m, Airedale for Hokitika. September I—Daylight, Egmont for Dunedin. The e.s Wainui sailed for Dunedin via intermediate ports on Saturday afternoon last. The brigantine Despatch is expected to sail for the Chatham Islands to-morrow. We understand that the ship Red Rover has been laid on for wool, and will be the first ship of this season. The following is the report of the passage of the ketch. Margaret : —She left Lyttelton on July 24, laden with cargo ex Lincoln, and arrived at Tiuiaru «jri Sunday, tne 28th. On the. 29th experienced a light breeze from S.K Lttnded one bout 1 >ad of and srot U'ider weigh (on account of the wind freshening) under small canvas. On the following morning, the wind freshening, at eight a.m. made anil under double-reefed main and staysail till four p.m., when, although a heavy eea broke over the vessel and swept the decks of everything movable, she continued under sail till Akaroa heads were sighted, bearing S.W. Squared away and ran into Akaroa harbour, where she remained from Wednesday till Monday. On Tuesday got on the, way in company with the barge Black wall and schooner Dart, when a heavy gale of wind was experienced from the west till four am. on the following morning. On Wednesday, the 7th instant, arrived in Boney Bay, where she lay till the 14th instant, when a heavy sea came in, but without sufficient wind to carry a vessel against it. On rhrnvday the sea increased, and on Friday, the 16th, lost starboard anchor and sprung stock of rudder, and eventually had to put into Lytteton harbour fo r repairs The craft. is again in good sailing condition, and is cleared for Timaru.
