I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE, pursuant to Clause VI. of "The Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1866," that on the 27th day of June, 1867, an application was lodged in the Land Office, Christehurch, by the " Canterbnry Investment Company (Limited)," by the hands of their manager, John Hamilton Ward, to have issued by the Waste Lands Board, in substitution of the original pasturage license numbered 96, Class 11., now held by the said company, a separate license to Messrs John Bealey and Samuel Bealey of that portion of the aforesaid run containing one hundred and eighty-eight acres, mora or less, bounded on the north by the River Wakaepa, on the east by P.R. No. 277, and a line in continuation of the western boundary thereof, and on the weßt by the road forming the eastern boundary of Section 9882 ; and a separate license to the aforesaid " Canterbury Investment Company (Limited)" of the remaining portion of the run above mentioned, situated to the southward and westward of the land above described. . If any person can show canse why such separate licenses as aforesaid should not be issued, the same mußt be made known to mc on or before the 26th day of August, 1867. W. G. I HEREBY GIVE NOTICE pursuant to Clause VI. of " The Canterbury Waste Lands Act, 1866," that on the 29th instant an application was lodged in the Land Office, Christchuroh, by George Gould, to have issued by the Waste Lands Board, in substitution of the original Pasturage License, No. 22, Class 8, now held by the said George Gould, a separate license to the said George Gould of the southern portion of the land included within the aforesaid Pasture License, and a separate license to "The Canterbury Invest-, ment Company (Limited)," of the northern portion thereof. If any person can show cause why such licenses as aforesaid should not be issued, the same must be made known to the Waste Lands Board on or before the 26th day of September next. Thepositionwhich Campbeltown (Bluff Harbor) occupies as the first port of arrival and last of departure for the steamers carrying her Majesty's English and Australian Mails, as well as its growing importance as a port of fiftll for sailing vessels of large tonnage, and the fact that it is the southern terminus of the New Zealand Telegraph System, and of the Railways already initiated in Southland, whioh eventually will traverse the whole of the Middle Island, has induced us to establish at this point a General Telegraph Agency. The objects we have in view are threefold:— Firstly. —Receiving and transacting all Mercantile Business in which the telegraphio wire may be called in tc requisition. Semndly.— Supplying the Press through* out New Zealand with the latest English and Australasian Intelli- < gence, including the state of Markets, Shipping, and General News from all parts of the Colonies.
