LATEST TELEGEAMS.
[By Submarine Telegraph.] "Wellington, April 16, 7.15 p.m. There is a strong feeling in Victoria, both inside and outside the legislative bodies, against the report of the Postal Conference, on the following grounds : —Ist. That their contribution is excessive. 2ud. That a fortnightly Suez mail has not been adopted. 3rd. That the Cape route has been abandoned. And 4th. That Sydney has been made the terminus of all three services, the expenditure on which will produce a revenue of halt a million annually. Our printing offices have been invited to tender for printing the debates of the Assembly in pamphlet form, the same to be issued weekly. The formation of a G-overument reporting staif has been entrusted to Mr Debois, of Sydney. A deputation waited on the directors of the New Zealand Steam Navigation Company to suggest that they should resign en masse at the meeting i next Thursday, and so fall in with the attempt which will be made to reduce the number of the directors from twelve to three or five. The directors refused, and intend to recommend a winding-up of the concern, which the shareholders will resist. The St. Kilda has arrived from the Chatham Islands. All well.
