Nelson, 1.50 p.m., April 5. Tho business of the Bank of Auckland came to a stand on the 2nd inst. •the manager attempted to abscond, out was prevented from doing so. No defalcation appeared on examining the account, but four thousand pounds' worth of overdue bills were returned «» specie (?). Sik, —May I be allowed space to correct a punter's error that appears in your to-day's report of my evidence. The passage in question is given by you as follows:—"On the credit side a bill"for £150 10s, purporting to be a part renewal of a false entry of £60 in caßh, &o." The deposition made by mc was, "On the credit side a bill for £150 10s, purporting to be a part renewal, and a false entry of £60 in cash," &c. By inserting this you will oblige yours, &c, J. W. Tbeadwell.
