LYTTELTON MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
The members of this Council met at the usual hour on Monday night. Present— Messrs Ward (chairman), Gee, Willeox, Wilkin, Taylor, Grubb, and Balestiee.
The minutes of the former meeting were read and confirmed.
Tho sum of £5 4s 4d was reported to have been received by the clerk since the last meeting.
Tho following letters were then read : —
From E. Dob*on, Esq., Provincial Engineer, informing the Council that he regretted that, respecting the pump at the mouth of the tunnel, lie saw no reason to alter his opinion. From Mr Smart, stating that he had taken advice as to his refusal to make good the asphalte pavement in London street, in front of the premises occupied by Mr Cummins and Mr Waterhouse, and considered he was not bound to do the work.
It having been mentioned that Mr Smart's contract had not tho seal of the Council attached, Mr Gee proposed—" That the document be properly fccaled." Mr Grubb seconded the motion, which was carried.
From Mr E. A. Hargreaves, M.P.C., informing the Council of tho rea-sons why tho amended Ordinance Act was not passed lust session, and expre»sing surprise at the manneiv in which the Council had addressed him.
