POST-OFFICE NOTICES,
Mails, per Taranaki, for the Northern ports of New Zealand, will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m., and Lyttelton at 11 a.m. on Thursday, the 21st inst.
Mails per Rangitoto, for tho Australian colonies, will close at Christchurch at 11 a.m., and Lyttelton at 2 p.m., on Thursday, the 21st inst.
Mails per P.N.Z. and A.R.M. Company's steamer, for Otago and Southland, will close at Christchurch and Lyttelton at 5 p.m. on Saturday, the 23rd inst. On and after January 1, 1567, late letters for Hokitika and Greymouth, by payment of an r\iv\ mpenny stamp upon each letter, can be posted at t ue Chief Post-office, Christchurch, till 10 p.m. every Monday and Thursday ; and for Timaru, till 10 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On and after the Ist January, the Oxford and Moeraki Downs mails will close at Christchurch at 8 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday, instead of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday ; and for Hurunui at 8 a.m. every Monday, instead of Mondays and Wednesdays, as heretofore.
Mails for Addington will in future close at the Chief Post-ofllce, Christchurch, at 10.30 a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, and for St. Albans at 9.15 a.m. on the same day On. and after thi3 date the South road mails will close at the Chief Post-office, Christchurch, at 6 p.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, instead of 5 p.m. as heretofore.
Leeston—Mails will close at 11.15 a.m. every Tuesday and Saturday. Prebbleton —Mails will close at 11.15 a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Post-offices' will be established on the Ist January at the under-mentioned places : — Clanricarde —Mails will close at 2.45 p.m. every Saturday. Springston —Mails will close at 11.15 a.m. every Tuesday and Saturday. Eyreton —Mails will close at 8 a.m. every Tuesday and Saturday.
In consequence of newspapers being frequently posted in packages of more than one number, the same are detained at the Chief Post-cffice, andattention is called to the following postal regulation : — "Newspapers for transmission within the colony shall be posted in single numbers, so put up that the date of publication may be readily seen. Packages of newspapers consisting of more than one number, shall be treated as book packets."
The following alterations will take effect in the arrival and departure of mail Bteamers at and from Lyttelton, for the month of February, 1867 :—- Arrive from North, sth, 9th, 16th, 24th. Arrive from South, 4ih, 16th, 21st, 26th. Depart for North, 4th, 17th, 2lst, 27th. Depart for South, 6th, 10th, 16th, 24th. F. E. Weight, Chief Postmaster.
