RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

Christohitbch —May 11. [Before C. C. Bowbn, Esq., E.M] Bridget Ferrick was brought up, on remand, charged with an assault on her child. The Resident Magistrate said that the prisoner was evidently unfit to have charge of the child, and he should commit her for a month, and in the meantime give directions that she should be examined by a medical man to ascertain her state of mind. G. W. Ells, charged with committing an assault on Frederick Hurrell, was fined ss. Ltttelton —May 11. [Before W. Dohaxd, Esq., B.M.] William Reid, charged on warrant with larceny of a wheelbarrow, was remanded to Christtfhurch. Henry Hagger was brought up, in custody, charged with larceny of a pair of trousers and a shirt, the property of Arthur Seymour. The Eesident Magistrate remanded him till the lith, for medical enquiry as to his sanity. A case against John Baxter, for assault, was dismissed.
