RIVER SHIPPING.

Exy and Agnes, ketch. The Panama, New Zealand, and Australian Boyal Mail Company's steamship Phoebe, John Gardyne, commander, arrived in Lyttelton harbor yesterday morning at ten minutes past eleven a.m. She sailed from the Manukau on the 28th April at fifty minutes past fire p.m., arrived off Taranaki the following morning at half-past eleven, it blowing at the time a south-west gale ; maili only were landed, passengers and cargo compelled to be "taken on to Kelson, and arriving at that port ou the 30th ultimo at noon. Left Nelson for Picton on the 2nd May at twenty-five minutes past ton a.m., arriving in the evening at halfpast eight. Left Picton for Wellington on the 3rd ultimo at half-past five aan., arriving at half-past eleven am. Sailed from thence for Lyttehon at half-past two p m. on the 4th, arriving as above. Experienced light airs and calms, with heavy 8.E., S.W., and cloudy weather throughout the passage from Wellington. The New Zealand Steam Navigation Company's steamship Taranaki, Captain H B Francis, arrived in Lyttelton harbor at ten a.m. yesterday morning from Port Chalmers and the Bluff. She left the latter port at half-past four p.m. on the 2nd, and experienced strong S.W. gale, with high sea, hove to off Tairoa heads at half-past two next morning, and steamed into Port Chalmers at daylight. Left at five p.m. on the sth, and arrived as above, having experienced fine calm weather. During the - ran from Danedin to this port the Taranaki averaged a speed of over twelve knots an hour.
