The " Independent," of the 13th inst, has the following report: — Trade has received rather an impetus during the pact month, and the market ie moderately well eupplied. Large quantities of flour have come to hand lately, and the quotatione are a trifle lower. The cargo of Chilian, ex Amalia, changed hands on arrival at a price that has not transpired. Messrs J. and T. Kebgell, at the mills, quote as follows: — , Adelaide, per ton £26 0 0 Colonial, per ton 24 0 0 Chilian, per ton 22 0 0 Wheat, none in the market Sharps, per bushel ... ... 0 8 0 Bran, per bushel ... ... 016 Oats, per bushel 0 7 0 The season, though rather dry, has been favorable to the crops, and the market has been well eupplied with fruit and vegetables. The hay crop, too, hae been very good, and was got in before the late rains. * Large quantitiee of wool almost dailjf arrive from the coast and up-country stations, and the first wool ship of the season, the Asterope, with a large cargo, valued at £105,209 12s 6d, left for London on the 29th ult. The next on the berth is the Adelaide Baker, which is fast filling up, and will be ready for sea at her advertised date. The ship Wild Duck, which arrived on the 26th ult., from London, with a large and miscellaneous cargo, has already discharged a considerable qu-mtity, and cleared sufficient epece in the hold for the reception of her;homeward cargo. The first bale was taken on board on Tuesday afternoon. The Hutt market was very well attended. Mr. J. Hi Homer cold a quantity of cattle and bones, the former at from £8 to £8 10s per head, and the latter at an average of £18 per head. SYDNEY. We have our Sydney files to the 6th inst. The "Morning Herald," of that date, reports : — A fair amount of business has been done during the week, but purchases have been made chiefly for. immediate requirements, and there has been but little speculation in any of die markets. The new tariff and the ad vatoretn duties are gradually imparting firmness to prices, especially to articles of which stocks' are light. The drought, with- the consequent want of feed, has rendered carriage difficult to obtain, and will, if it continue, seriously interfere with the conveyance of goods into the interior. Flour—-The firmness that has recently characterised this market hae been maintained; "and in consequence of the small stocks held, Tiriceeof yLdeMde flour have advaneed4i|om 10s to £1 The cargo of Chilian flour, ex Annie Mathflde.'nas been sold at auction at from 19e 6d to £21 10e per ton. Adelaide flour, however, commands full rates; the quotations are frdm £25 to £25 10s, at which prices, parcels, have been freely sold. Adelaide wheat is worth 9s 9d to 10s, but the stocks of this are Tory light. Californian flour is quoted at £22 to £33; wheat from-9s to 9s 3d. Chilian flour,, £20 to £21; wheat, 8e 6d to 8s 9a. ~ Liguide—Bottled ale and porter continue firm,? the beet brands are worth 9s 6d to*los Brandy is unaltered—Martell'e 7e. Geneva, 10s to 10s 6d. In wines, there is no alteration to report. , ... , = Teas are stall firm. The cargo of the Asia w&b sold at auction this week, and realised from £7 to £7, 10s for medium, and £6 to £6 6s %rration. Sugarsi are rather firmer; in consequence of the news-from there -has been an advance of abont £1 per ton.* Only * portion of the Mauritius sugars, ex Crow, offered at auction, was sold, buyers not being disposed to give the prices asked.' Rice—-The recent advance in rice is supported, stocks being limited. Patna is quoted at £23 to £24 per ton. ' Oilmen's stores are still in demand. Pickles, best brands, are worth 9e 6d to 10a; salad oil, &3dtoße9d. 'Xhree-bnshel Bags—There have been some speculative purchases during the week, and they are now quoted at 15b 6d.
