Tararua, arrived in Lyttelton at 3 p.m. on the 26th' inst., having left Wellington at 4.30 p.m. on the 25th. She experienced very heavy head wind and sea. I The schooner Wild Wave brought in the boat Georgina, belonging to, Lyttelton, which she had picked up bottom upwards, off Kaiapoi. She must have capsized during one ofthe heavy breezes we have had lately. She belonged to two persons, named Wallace and Henry Peterson. - The poor fellows must have been drowned, as nothing has yet been heard of them. The Sir George Setmorb.—Many of our readers will read with regret the following paragraph from the " Times," of tbe 23rd August, recording the fate of the above vessel. The Sir George Seymore was the largest ofthe first four ships which conveyed the founders of Canterbury to their new home. She arrived in Lyttelton about twenty-four hours after the Charlotte Jane, having sailed twenty-four hours after her from Plymouth Sound. A Voice from the Sea.—On Sunday after noon a small bottle was picked up on the sands at' Scarborough, by a boy who saw it thrown on the beach by the waves. On being opened, it was found to contain a slip of pinkcolored note paper, slightly stained, on which was written in lead pencil, perfectly distinct aud legible, the following sad report: —" Ship Sir Georee Sevmore foundered off Cape Cod v U.S.A., October 22, 1864, bound from Bristol to New York. Cargo, iron and cloth. Lost 18, saved 23, in two boats. We are halfstarved. John Thomson, second mate, October 26,1864." •
