The following paragraph in Messrs Stables , circular, of March. 15, relates to this colony: — New Zealand—Nine vessels have cleared for this colony direct, of which two are for Auckland, value £51,102 ; and one for Otago, value £32,385. The gross value for the month is £111,952 against £78,628 in January and February, showing an increase of £33,324. The Ulcoats, for this colony, took one £3000 of silver coin. Messrs Eucker, Offor, and Co'e London Freight Circular reports :— A reaction has taken place in freights to the colonies, and vessels for Xew Zealand are not worth over 50s to 55s per register ton, to come under the Passenger Act, and 45s to 50a without that requirement ; for Australia the current rate is about 6s per ton below those quoted for New Zealand.
