GENTLEMEN,— Now that the election of a Physician for the Hospital, made necessary by the change in the management, has been publicly notified, the proper time seems to have come for ine , to offer myself as a candidate for re-election, as I have | long intended to do. My tenure of oflice has already been sufficient to give you the best means of judging how far I am justified in asking that the confidence originally reposed in mc by the Government may be continued by yourselves. My many years of experience in connection with similar institutions in England, the faithfulness with which I have endeavored to do my duty here, and the interest which as its first physician I may be supposed to feel in this particular Hospital, will, I hope, be looked upon as giving mc a just claim to my reappointment. Nor will, I trust, that claim be prejudiced because under all the circumstances it seems to mc best to abstain from all personal canvass. I am, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, S. S. Intending competitors to send in their names lo Sergeant-Major Morgan, on or before Saturday, the 21st instant. Prizes will be awarded to the best shots, and competitors will bo conveyed from the Christchurch Station to Sumner and back, free of expense. The ranges will be 300, 400, and 500 yards ; 5 shots at each range.
