TO TRAVELLERS ON THE NORTH ROAD. PUBLIC NOTICE. WE, the undersigned, hereby give notice that, in consequence of the constant tax upon our liberality in providing food and shelter for the MANY NEEDY TRAVELLERS, * and the very frequent acts of petty swindling 1 practised upon us by unprincipled men, who come ' and call for wliat they want and then make off 1 without paying. ■ This is to give notice that, after this date, we will not find food and shelter for travellers, unless 1 the Bonie is PAID FOR OVER NIGHT. We do this in self-defence, in consequence of the high price of meat, &c.: as it is impossible , to stand the constant drain upon our resources, and the frequent acts of imposture that take place make the tax all the worse to bear. THIS pure Clydesdale colt by the celebrated horse CLYDE, out of a prize mare by Glancer, will cover at his owner's this season at £10 each mare, and 10s. the groom, with a reduction for a number of mares. Previous to exportation this colt was submitted to the inspection of Mr. Spooner, the Principal Professor of the Veterinary College, London, and certified by him to be perfectly sound. When in miserable condition and newly landed last season lie covered 20 mares which have all proved in foal. He will bo strictly limited to 30 public marcs, and the greater part of the nominations are already taken up. Paddocks at 25.6 d. per week, but no responsibility incurred. A. R. Ceeyke. THE GOVERNOR'S BAY and DYER'S PASS TOLL-BAR is now open, and the following rates chargeable :— Foot passengers £5 Horse ditto 10 Stock of any dcßcription {per head 3 In connection with the foregoing, NOTICE is hereby given, that, in defence of rights which for the last seven years have been fully recognized, but wantonly trifled with, as well as to enable mc to meet the exigencies of a case wliich I am disposed to think has not its parallel, even in colonial annals, and a case which, let it be plainly understood, is intimately and officially identified with three Superintendents, five Provincial Secretaries, nine Executives, and, though last not least, three Provincial Solicitors, I HAVE FROM THE DATE HEREOF, SEPTEMBER 15th (and pending a final settlement of my claims) organized a system of patrol, both mounted and on foot, whose especial duty it will be to see that no trespass is permitted on tlie Sections 226, 1310, and 1311, as the sale op the old GOVERNOR'S Bay road to vie in 1858 (through the last two sections) having made the land on both sides of 226— between the intended new line and the beach —my private property, the old reserve through 226 is consequently in a stato of deadlock, and will be kept so until justice be done mc. Parties travelling would do well to bear in mind that there is at present NO bight op way to Foster's public house, except from tho back, tlirough his own land, it having been actually licensed without any Government Road, good, bad, or indifferent, to it.
