March 23, 1863. THE FINE ARTS. IT is proposed to establish a society for the promotion of the Fine Arts in the Province of Canterbury. The object wul be, Ist. To establish an annual exhibition of works of Art, including both originals and copies, oil colour paintings, water colour drawings, photographs, engravings, &c. 2nd. To establish a School of Design. 3rd. To lay the foundation of a permanent Gallery of Works of Art. It is proposed that the annual subscription of a member should be ten shiUings. Persons wishing to become members are requested to communicate ■with H. F. Worsley, Secretary, pro. tern., or to any member of the Provisional Committee.
