been raised The Rev. D. Bruce addressed the meeting at considerable length, in the course of which he congratulated them on the union which had been brought about between the various sections of the Scotch Church—they had admitted to it the Presbyterian ministers representing the Free Church, the United Presbyterian Church " and the good old Covenant Church of Scotland." The rev. gentlemen gave a review of various matters relating to church government, &c, and concluded by saying, " they must look up for the blessing of God to descend upon the church all over the land, and to descend alao upon their own congregation as a part of that church, if they hoped to see a happy end to all their undertakings. Other gentlemen gave addresses ; one of whom Mr. Sniart } in proposing a vote of thanks to the ladies, made some appropriate remarks on congregational singing, which was responded to by Mr. Clark, and the proceedings terminated. In concluding this report we must bear our unqualified testimony to the excellence of the music. The vocalists were taken from the congregation; and the power and expression with which the anthems were rendered would have done credit to a more pretentious choir. Mr. Hugh Reid wa3 in excellent voice ( and his solos were very effective. New Zealand Insurance Cootaxv.—At a special meeting of the shareholders of this Company held last week, Messrs. David and Walter K. Graham were unanimously elected Directors in the room of John Graham, and G. B. Owen, Esqrs., resigned. We are happy to see this Company going on extending the sphere of its operations; agents have bsen appointed at Russell and Wanganui in the northern, and Picton, Oaniaru, and Invarcargill in the Southern Island The shooting for the ritles presented by the Messrs. Hebbert, commenced on Thursday with the Royal Company. There were veiy few in attendance. The shooting was more than an average, the highest score l;>eing 27 points.—JWw Zcalander.
