STRAY CATTLE ON THE SPRINGS STATION. WHEREAS upwards of an hundred head of stray cattle, various brands, have for some time been wandering at large on the above run. Notice is hereby given that all such stray cattle will be yarded in the yards, at the Springs Station, on Tuesday, the 4th day of March next, when they will be given up to the several owners upon application, and upon payment of one pound per head, to cover the rent of the pasturage, and the expences of advertising an delivery. AN election to a Scholarship on the Somes Foundation is appointed to take place on Tuesday, March 25, 1862. The value of the scholarship is £50 per annnm, for three years, subject to a deduction of £10 for any year in which the annual examination of the scholars shall not have been passed satisfactorily. It is open to all members of the Church of England above 15 and under 19 years of age, preference being $iven in the event of ecjuality to any candidate who may be of the kindred of the foundress Mrs. Maria Somes, or of her late husband, Mr. Joseph Somes. Applications, accompanied by certificates of age and of good moral character, and (in case of founder's kin) by satisfactory proof of consanguinity, must be sent to the undersigned on or before Wednesday, the l&th of March, at 9 a. in, at which time the examination will commence. Candidates will be examined in the following subjects especially:— Greek Testament, (the Acts of the Apostles) Herodotus; Book I, chapters containing the Life of Croesus: Homer, Iliad, Book in : Virgil; Bucolics, and First Georgic : Second Book of Livy: History of England, Period of the Reformation, Four Books of Euclid: Arithmetic, Algebra: Physical Geography, and French.
