Mr. W. D. Barnard reports the sale, on Saturday last, of 7 thoroughbred mares, at prices varying from £33 to £52 10s., averaging £42 10s. .41so, 6 thoroughbred tAvo year old colts and fillies, prices from £16 to £30, averaging £23 10s. I bay gelding, £31 10s. 2 ponies, £20 and £28 respectively. The great sale of furniture announced by Messrs. Ollivier aud Son, took place on Wednesday at the Town Hall. The prices realized, however, so far as the sale proceeded, being very unsatisfactory, tho auctioneer announced that the remainder of the goods would be left on view till the ensuing day, duriug and after which he Avould prefer disposing of them by private treaty. Although office fittings, and several useful articles sold at fair prices, furniture of an ornamental character, <->f which there Avas a largo and elegant assortment, Avent for sums which could not have greatly exceeded the cost of manufacture and freight: it was obvious, hoAvever, that there Avas a demand for articles of a plain, useful description, for which the biddings were very spirited, and fair prices were given. The show of rugs, carpeting, and velvet piled and other table covers Avas of an unusually rich and handsome discription. The goods, as stated above, will remain for purchase by priA'ate treaty.
