MATATUA SEXCENTENARY CELEBRATIONS The committee desires to thank every Pakeha and Maori supporter of the celebrations for their contribution to a wonderfully successful function. With some returns yet to come just under £2,800 has been banked and with sales of timber etc. it is fully expected that the final return will be £3,000. The Maori Committee, together with the three Pakeha members, are gratified that their confidence in the generosity of both races has not been misplaced. The landing of the canoe was an ing feature of the celebrations and the Maori concert attracted such an immense crowd that the authorities closed the doors shutting out several hundred visitors. The finance committee desire all accounts to be rendered at once so that payment may be made this week. Mr J. Lawson (Chairman) J. P. Hohapata (Hon. Sec.) Accounts to be sent to the Hon . Secretary, do P.O . Poropcro. C. Kingsley-Smith, W. M. Clark, Richard Cobbe, members of the Maori Finance Committee.
