BAY OF PLENTY HARBOUR ' Sir, —Some months ago in a letter to the Beacon I made a guess' that if Tauranga got the harbour Murupara would get the town pulp mills. In the last- ten days, a Tauranga man informed me I was about 50 miles out in my guess. He was confident that Tauranga would get the harbour and Rotorua and Tauranga divide the town between them. He said there will not even be a railway to Murupara. The railway will go between Tauranga and Rotorua with the pulp mills at Rotorua working the forests from the north-west end inste'd of from the north-east end at M- ■ tipara. It looks as though Wbakatane’s man with the heavy hammer has now been thrown out of the ring with Murupara’s champion. O’-
Doidge of the silver tongue has charmed the man who lays the deep blue harbours. There may still be time for Whakatane to raise the roof and win in the last few minutes. But, if they stick to the theory that the meek will inherit the earth, they have already lost. The go-getter will get the harbour which was not mentioned in the Bible. It mentioned only the earth. Yours etc., Of P-TIMER, Galatea.
