Approximately 1,000 musicians from the United States and Canada attended the recent 49th annual meeting of the American Guild of Banjoists, Mandolinists, and Guitarists. Works of Brahms, Wagner, Franck, Grieg, Massenet and Tschaikowsky were played.
A new automatic book-vending machine is now “selling” inexpensive editioris of books on all subjects in the United States. The purchaser makes his selection by pressing a button. Then he inserts a coin and turns a knob, and the book comes out.
A new machine developed by a United States gynecologist promises to reduce some of the hazards of childbirth. It warns a doctor in advance if his patient is about to have difficulty in delivering her child, thus enabling him take immediate remedial action. *
