Shorter Training For Certain Classes Of Nurses
Periods of training for certain classes of nurses are reduced by three months and in the 'case of nursing aids by six months under an amendment to Nurses and Midwives’ Regulations published recently. In the case of general nurses who train as psychiatric nurses, training is reduced by one yeai with power for the Nurses’ and Midwives’ Board to grant c oncessions. I
By the amendment the period of training fbr general nurses is reduced from three years three months to three years and in the case of nursing aids from two years to 18 months. Alterations are also made in training syllabuses for nurses and a provision is designed to clarify the duties of midwives and mater - nity nurses both in private practice and in public hospitals and in - stitutions.
The Nurses and Mid wives Board may approve two or more hospitals under the control of one governing body as a training school for nurses or male nurses.
