Trophies Won At Rod And Gun Club Shoot
The Whakatane County Rod and Gun Club held a shoot on Sunday. The fine day attracted a good field of shooters and all events were keenly contested, and produced a high grade of claybird shooting.
Main interest centred on the trophy events the C. A. Timbs Memorial Pigeon, the Veterans’ trophy and the Novice Cup. W. Kenyon shot consistently well to win the Pigeon, a shoot off being necessary with J. McLeod,, a member who came over from Te Puke to compete. The Veterans’ trophy was won by McLeod, who was always in the money throughout the day. The Novice Cup, donated to encourage less experienced shooters, was carried off by R. Sloane, after a shoot off with H. Morgan and R. Bluett. Other results:—
10-Bird Eyeopener: R. S. Ricketts 9, W. Hume, W. C. Davies, H. Jackson, J. Hayward 8. 10-Bird Sweepstake, No. 1: W. C. Davies, A. Mitchell and J.
