Activities Of Awakeri Y.F.C.

The Awakeri Young Farmers’ Club held its monthly meeting in the Awakeri Hall on Monday night. Mr M. Lomax reported on the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers twenty-first birthday party held last month, and Mr D. McClaren, on the Herd Improvement Association’s recent film evening and an address by Mr Ward of the New Zealand Dairy Board, at Edgecumbe.

On Tuesday, the club will hold its miniature and sporting rifle competitions at the Legion of Frontiersmen’s range in the Winter Show Buildings. Two teams will compete for the New Zealand Y.F.C. rifle competitions. The club will hold a dance on August 26 and a free bus will be running out from town. Mr E. R. Marryatt, the district secretary, showed agricultural films at Awakeri. These films were some of the • latest produced by the National Film Unit.

The field day for the month is to be a stock judging competition and instruction by a local breeder.
