KNOCKOUT TOURNAMENT TO CLOSE SEASON The knockout tournament for the Central Bay of Plenty Hockey Association postponed last week-end Will be played next Sunday at Edgecumbe commencing at 9.30 a.m. The tournament will be held in grades and the A grade will play for the Tucker and Pirimi Perenera Cups, the B grade will play for the Te Kira Minerapa and Knockout Cups. During the tourunament the 75 yards sprints will be held and the winning competitors will be presented with the Association Sashes. The annual umpires West v East Shield will be keenly contested. Only umpires can take part in these games and the spectators and players gather some very interesting information from watching these experts in action.

After the tournament the cups will be presented to the winners of the various competitions held during the season. For most teams this day will be the end of another hockey season. This season there were 30 teams in the three grades (A, B and Juniors) and altogether 172 competition games were played. Considerable praise therefore goes to the St John Association, the Whakatane Umpires’ Association and the officials of the Association and Clubs.

CENTRAL BAY TEAMS In a return hockey match at Edgecumbe on Saturday Central □ay of Plenty will play Tauranga at 1.30 p.m. for the Ellison Cup. The team:—
