COMMITTEE HEARS APPLICANTS FOR LIQUOR LICENSE

(Special to Beacon) ROTORUA, yesterday. Eleven applications are being considered by the Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee at Rotorua for one wholesale liquor license recommended by the Licensing Commission for Whakatane, and the hearing will probably occupy two 'days. The applicants with their counsel are:— Loan and Mercantile Agency (Mr G. Otley). S. G. Hirst (Mr B. S. Barry).

W. H. Righton (Mr E. Roe). D. S. Wilson and R. C Tippett alternatively D. S. Wilson (Mr D. Davies). f J. O. Kelsey (Mr N. Bennett). G. E. N. L. Dawson (Mr J. K. Lusk). G. L. Washer Jnr/(Mr R. A. Potter).

T. W. White (Mr H. L. Boughton). Dalgety & Co. Ltd. (Mr N. Hodgson). . G. H. Comiskey. Prior to the hearing of evidence Mr C. W. Davies, on behalf of the Director of Rehabilitation, placed before the Committee the legal position and also the policy of the Rehabilitation Board with regard to such /applications. Two of the

applicants listed had been approv-. j ed by the Board for financial assistance. The Committee then went on to consider the applications in the order listed.
