Manawahe People Farewell Residents Leaving District

Farewell to the families of Mr and Mrs D. K. Reid and Mr an Mrs M. Drabble, who are leaving Manawahe, was held at Manawahe on Thursday night and attended by a large crowd. Mr and Mrs Drabble were presented by residents with a fountain pen, travelling bag and a pair of blankets. The presentation was made by Mr G. Logan. Mr and Mrs Reid were presented with similar gifts and also a chque from the school committee by the chairman, Mr D. Jones. Reference was made to the work Mr Reid had done during his period at the Manawahe SchooP and also to the work of Mrs Reid, who had taught sewing. Mr Reid had been transferred to Pukehina.

A monte carlo was won by Mr R. Lilly and Miss A. Riddell.
