PLEADS WEEKLY COMPETITION

At the end of the first round of the Whakatane Cricket Associa- ; lion’s weekly competitions P. and T. have gone into the lead from Edge- 1 ; cumbe with 18 points, Edgecumbe having 12. Then come Te Teko and,. Taneatua third With 10 points and Waimana with two points. Both Taneatua and Waimana have a game in hand for the round.

Commencing the second round on Sunday P. and T. will take the bye while Waimana meets Taneatua at, Taneatua and on , the Te Teko ground Edgecumbe plays Te Teko.

The other cricket match for the week-end is the game at Whakatane tomorrow when United meets Tauranga. United are fielding a strong team but will be without, the services of W. McKenzie, who is still in Auckland, after' taking part in the trial game for the Auckland Plunket Shield team. He was unsuccessful in gaining a place in that' XI.
