Three and a half minutes after Foxzami was announced the winner of the 1949 Melbourne Cup on November 1, the Melbourne Herald, containing the result was being sold at Flinders Street Station. The official result given at 3.7 p.m., printing presses were rolling at 3.8 J, vans left The Herald office at 3.9£ and papers were on sale at 3.IQJ.
