X-Ray In Shoe Fitting

A recent overseas press report publishes a warning against the excesive use of X-ray equipment, in shoe-fitting. ~ Carter's Shoes (Whakatane) Ltd. wish to assure the public that the X-ray machine in use in their store' is of the most.modern design and gives ample protection to the user. The machine is manufactured by Philips Electrical Industries Ltd., a firm with a world-wide reputation in the manufacture of medical electrical equipment of all types, and. who state that 50 minutes' of continuous exposure would be required to cause an X-ray burn. In actual practice, the time of exposure of the foot to the ray is limited to 20 seconds. Half of this is usually sufficient to check the fit of a shoe. P.B.A.
