First Sports Held By New Te Whaiti Athletic Club

The first meeting, of the newlyformed Minginui-Te Whaiti Athletic Club, held at Minginui, proved a great success and attracted, besides excellent entries, a crowd of over 400 spectators. L. Rogers, son, of the veteran axeman, C. Rogers, had' an excellent day, accounting for three chopping events and filling third place in another.

After the chopping trophies were presented by Mr G. Santon. * Good handicapping by Mr J. Simons, Whakatane, resulted in close and exciting finishes in all the chopping events. Detailed results were:—
