WEDDING
' GLENDENING-LA WHENCE A silver chain heirloom sent from the bride’s parents in England was worn by Alice, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs W.. R. Lawrence, Oldham, Lancashire, England, at her marriage with Charles Kenneth, elder son of the late W. and Mrs J. A. Glendening, Bootle, Liverpool, England, solemnised in the Methodist Church, Whakatane, on Saturday. The officiating minister was the Reverend F. J. Climo. The bride chose a charming fitted cornflour blue suit with a fishtail flare, navy blue accessories and a matching hat from which hung a delicate blue veil. She wore )a spray of orange blossom, lily of the valley and carnations. 'v. , She was attended by Miss Dawn. Cato who wore a button through turquoise blue gown with gathere&jk panels, self belt, three quartei|F length sleeves and white accessories. She wore a spray similar to that of the bride. The bride was given away by Mr, • R„ M. Jones .while the ’groom was attended by Mr R. Hewitt. The reception was held at the bride’s home at the Heads. Mr and Mrs Lawrence are both newly arrived immigrants from England and plan to make their future home at Whakatane.
