No Jet Aircraft For New Zealand
National Airways Corporation was watching with the closest interest the development in Britain of modern commercial aircraft, but it was unlikely that jet airliners would be suitable for internal, operation in New Zealand at present, said the Minister in Charge of Civil Aviation, Mr Jones, in the House of Representatives. These aircraft were too large to be operated from existing airfields, he said. However, there were propellor turbine powered aircraft now being developed in which the corporation would be interested.
