Children Learn To Sing Hymn In Deaf And Dumb Language
A very happy children's afternoon was held by. the League of Mothers (Whakatane branch) in the Knox Sunday School Hall last - v week. Mrs W. B. Gow presided and introduced Mrs C. Graham, speaker for the afternoon. Mrs- Graham taught the children present a chorus, “God is good to me,” in deaf and dumb language. , In a few minutes, they were able • to act this chorus just as deaf and . durqb children would, and also to sing it. with words. The"'speaker then related to the children an i!n!- ■ cident in the life of one of America’s outstanding Christian men, Dr Rogers, doctor of philosophy. After this address the children and young friends of members, presented a bright pogramme of recitations, songs, piano solos and piano accordion numbers. Among those taking part were Helen Pearson, Janet Morice, Ann Stenhouse, Margaret Mahy, Helen Mahy, Heather Malcolm, Fiona Wilson, Joelipe Parkinson, Judith Lee, Rosalie Gillard, Colleen Boult, Kevin Lysaght, Peter Stenhouse and David Metcalfe.
