Monkey’s Glorious Hour Of Freedom
A rare white monkey valued at £SO, which escaped from a private zoo in Hull, England, was recaptured after an hour.
But not before it had: — Bitten two people when cornered in a coalhouse.
Ambled through a cinema, causing a near riot, so that police and ambulance officers had to be called in.
Been chased over roofs by 100 schoolchildren.
Fought and defeated a policeman and two civilians.
The monkey’s glorious hour ended when it dropped through a skylight into a bathroom in which a woman was showering.
The woman screamed, leaped out of the bathroom, slammed tjie door, and rang the police.
Two policemen, investigating gingerly, found that the monkey had fallen into the bath.
All his ardour gone, he hardly resisted when they hauled him out an dropped him into a bag.
