Charged With False Pretences Arrested at Opotiki on Tuesdayon a charge of false pretences Raymond Colin Dixon, single, no fixed abode, appeared before Mr L. D. Lovelock, J.P., in the Whakatane Police Court on Wednesday. Pie was remanded until Wednesday next pending further charges.
Fighting At Whakatane Charged with fighting in the Strand on June 17 two farmhands, Maia Atarau, married of Tirau, and Toto Rangiaho, single of Ruatoki, appeared before Messrs R. T. Morpeth and C. H. Christensen, J’s.P., in the Whakatane Police Court on Monday. Atarau was fined £2 while Rangiaho was convicted and discharged.
Praise For Secretary Praise for the work of the show secretary, Mr R. Cobbe, was expressed by the president of the executive, Mr H. G. Warren, at the opening of the Whakatane Winter Show on Wednesday. Other speakers, Mr W. Sullivan M.P., and Mr B. S. Barry, Mayor of Whakatane, both referred to Mr Cobbe’s efforts in organising and arranging what is considered to be a record show.
