Filter Tips Save Tobacco

Ten per cent of Britain’s cigarette smokers may expect to receive their favourite brands with filter tips—in two years’ time. Quantities of new tipping machines are now being manufactured in London, and the first of the popular brands, with tips, should be on sale by early next summer. Considerably more workers will be needed by the big manufacturers, but the saving in tobacco—onefifth on each cigarette—will enable a price reduction of about 6d a packet of 20.
