BETTING CHARGE
TE TEKO MAN FINED FIRST OFFENDER IN COURT Before Messrs. Lovelock and Christensen J.Ps., in the Whakatane Police Court last Monday morning Cecil Mcßride, of Te Teko, pleaded guilty to a charge of soliciting bets in "a public place, to wit the main road at Te Teko on February 8. Sergeant Farrell said that defendant was seen accosting people on the roadway and when interviewed by the police was in possession of betting materials. Defendant was a first offender and was not operating in a big way. A fine of £2O was imposed.
