WHAKATANE BOWLING CLUB WEEKEND GAMES Following the continuation of the fine weather the Whakatane Bowling Club continues to carry out its programme of intensive play. An enjoyable tournament over the weekend resulted in L. Berg's-team winning the honours. The result of the tournament held by the club was as under:— Section A: Won outright by L. Berg's team, 4 wins. Section B: Three teams, skipped by Good, Darvill and Harris gained 4 wins and had to play off. Good got the bye, Harris met Darvill and defeated him. Harris then met Good and after an even tussle Good's team proved the winner. The final between Berg and Good was keenly fought but Berg, who had been consistent all day was able to gain the victory. The winning team was: S. S. Shapley, R. Morpeth, D. Butler and L. Berg (skip).
The runners-up were W. Compton, R. Salmon, C. A. Head and C. W. Good (skip). "In the match for-the Wilson Buttons (singles) Good (holder) defeated Bennett (challenger) by 20 points to 15. Champion Singles Members are asked to note that the champion singles will be played on Saturday, February 22, at 9 a.m., not February 15 as previously announced.
