A FEATURE COLUMN “SON OF LASSIE” Star Line-up With Van Heflin reporting to work opposite Joan Crawford in “Possessed,” fifteen stars are currently before the-cameras at Warner’s. Forever Amber 1 Otto Preminger has been assigned to direct “Forever Amber” when production is resumed in September. No further decisions as to the cast have yet been announced.
Gruesome Careers The conversation when Constantine Romanoff meets Albert Pierrepont in London promises to be somewhat gruesome. In Romanoff’s career as screen executioner, he has “hanged” or “electrocuted” many stars for their crimes on the screen. Pierrepont, of course, is the famous real-life executioner from whom Romanoff no doubt hopes to gather the expert’s angle on the job.
A Novel Twist
In the new 20th. Century Fox picture “Cluny Brown” starring Charles Boyer , and Jenifer Jones Una O’Conner’s role of screen mother has a new twist. She does not say a single word throughout the whole film. You keep expecting her to start talking, and she keeps clearing her throat as if she’s expecting the same thing. But she never says a word!
A Brilliant Dancer
Leonide Massine, noted as the greatest dancer since Nijinski, and the best and most prolific choreographer in history—he has created sixty successful new ballets (three times as many as any other choreographer)—states that Vera-Ellen, blonde dancing star, is the most versatile young dancer he has encountered for many years. New Zealanders will have their first opportunity of seeing her at work in “Three Little Girls In Blue.”
